Region of the Month - Piedmont
Located at the foot of the Alps, Piedmont is a region full of rich history, natural beauty and abundant recreation. Whether exploring Europe’s leading Egyptian Museum in Turin or enjoying the charms of Lake Orta, Piedmont requires many return trips to try to capture the many faces of the area. World-renowned for the abundance of unique truffles indigenous to the region, the hilly landscapes also produce prestigious wines from the local vineyards. And while some come to partake in the gastronomical delights of Piedmont, many flock to Sestriere and Val di Susa to explore the vast terrain of the world famous Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski area. From the Savoy Royal Palace to the hallowed Sacri Monte to the vast beauty of Lake Maggiore, Piedmont offers a vast range of unforgettable experiences.

Attractions of the month - Piedmont
Manta
Just south of Saluzzo is the village of Manta, a small but rich town, famous for its 14th-15th century castles and works of art within. There are many tourist accommodations available.
Piazza Castello
The center of Turin is recognized as the Piazza Castello, for this is where the Via Po, Via Roma, and Via Garibaldi meet. The square is surrounded by historically important buildings, including the Palazzo Madama, Palazzo Reale, and the Royal Library.
Sacro Monte
The Sacri Monti, or Sacred Mountains, are a group of nine religious structures incorporated into the hills of Piedmont and Lombardy. The 15th-16th century chapels contain frescoes and statues depicting Biblical tales. The Sacri Monti are on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites.
Cathedral
Adjoining the Palazzo Reale is the Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista, the patron saint of Turin. It was erected between 1491-1498 and is the only example of Renaissance style architecture in the city. The Santa Sindone or “Holy Shroud” is famously located here.
