If you are in the mood to immerse yourself in the Indian culture for a night, be sure to check out Shisha, a hookah bar in Trastevere (Via San Francesca a Ripa, 135, 00135 Roma, Italy).

Hookah bar, anyone?
Contestacchio
Contestaccio (Via di Monte Testaccio 65/b) is a great spot for live music and dancing. It’s more lively than a bar and less intense than a club- a perfect medley. The club has monthly programs, filled with different acts (pop, rock, electronica industrial rock, alternative, funk). Each night offers a particular vibe. It’s frequented by Italians and it’s easy to blend in among the bopping crowd. If you’re feeling energetic and you want an unusual experience, go!

Il Migliore Gelato
If you’re a gelato lover, be sure to visit Frigidarium (Via del Governo Vecchio, 112) and Gelateria Giolitti (Via Uffici del Vicario, 40). Frigidarium features a delicious assortment of flavors. My personal favorite is spagnola- the cherries mixed in are candied and delicious. It is modestly priced and if you ask nicely, they will stick a biscotto in your cone. As for Gelateria Giolitti, it is one of the oldest and most famous ice cream spots in Rome. It’s a relic of years past with waiters in plaid uniform and a beautiful bar. The gelato is unreal, complete with a huge dollop of panna on top. There are tons of flavors but beware: Giolitti’s reputation has persisted and you will have to wait. Having said that, there’s nothing better than taking your massive cone to the Pantheon and sitting outside for a little socializing.
American Diner - Florence
Do you need to satisfy a craving for American food? Check out the American Diner in Florence on Via dell’Acqua.
Monti
If you’re into urban chic, Monti is the neighborhood for you. Located just near the Colosseo, Monti is the perfect place to stroll, explore, or simply pause for that much needed cappuccino. Some favorites: Pifebo Vintage Shop (Via dei Serpenti, 141), Misty Beethoven (Via degli Zingari 12), La Bottega del Cioccolato (Via Leonina 82), and Mia Market (Panisperna 225). This ‘rione’ (an ancient hilly region) effortlessly blends the ages. The oldest cobblestones give way to amazing shoe stores, and overgrown vines modestly cover the newest wine bar. If you’re looking to impress your friends, or if you simply want to see something unexpected, give this area a shot. You won’t be disappointed!

So You're Studying Abroad In Florence...
Prior to my study abroad experience, me and my peers received the “Florence Bible”. Basically, it contained all of the information you would want to/need to know going into the best semester of your life. It had all of the restaurants to eat at, bars to hit up, places to travel to and so on.
As a former study abroad student here in Florence, I felt it was my duty to pass on an abbreviated version of all the MUST DO’s and MUST KNOW’s to all you current/future study abroad students.
Weekend fun in Rome
While being in such close proximity to the many wonderful countries of Europe is tempting me to travel at every chance that I get, being low on cash and realizing just how much Rome and its surrounding towns has to offer is pulling me in.
