Mobility scooters ban in Benidorm

Police are so concerned about boy racers on mobility scooters in Benidorm that they are limiting their use to people over the age of 55 or those with genuine disabilities. Young, able bodied people are hiring them as a ‘must do’ activity, after they were popularised by Madge in the TV sitcom ‘Benidorm.’ If police see young people misusing the scooters or causing a nuisance, they will be confiscated.

What do you think? Should mobility scooter hire be restricted to those who really need it, or should anyone be able to hire them? Personally I think the curb is way overdue. Mobility scooters have been causing an increasing level of disruption in Benidorm – it’s time to be sensible about it.

I use a mobility scooter user, due to Spina Bifida from birth. I do drive at full speed but do slow down when necessary, & can manage to pass others carefully, even when it’s really busy.

These Mobility Scooters can be controlled through remote system in your hand. You can increase or decrease the speed of such scooters by your own.
